About
Veit Rochus Marr (*1999, Berlin) is currently living and working in Berlin. Since his early childhood he has been a creative, starting piano lessons at the age of five and experimenting with various artistic practices. Though he has been drawing his whole life, the focus on painting evolved only in later years and is still influenced by various different mediums and techniques, like digital painting, comic drawing or crafts.
Moving around has always been a driving factor for him and he participated in various exchange or residency programs as well as journeys across the globe over the years, aspiring a broad worldview.
He studied painting at the Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp, where he also studied InSitu³ for one year and took evening classes in Sounddesign as well as working as a bar pianist for "Think Jazzy Gallery".
Jerome Marr is the artist alias under which Rochus Marr promotes his paintings on the internet. It is part of an Instagram performance, where process videos of the paintings are presented. "Jerome" is representing the commercial side of the art business. In comparison to the rest of Rochus' activities, "Jerome" is supposed to be much more polished, living in a kitsch world. This performance is supposed to display the self-representation on the internet, that can sometimes seem like an alter ego of people and leave one wondering, who you have in front of you.
